Acer japonica 'Aconitifolium' (Dancing Peacock Maple)
12-15' Part Shade Zone 5-7 NEW!  An extraordinary tree with large green leaves with deeply cut lobes creating a fern like lush appearance. Small, reddish flowers in spring followed by prominent red seeds in the fall. The 'Acontifolium' refers to its ferny foliage being similar to Aconitum (monkshood). Common name 'Dancing Peacock' refers to the similarity in form and many colors. Fall color ranging in reds, oranges, golds and purples. Although rated at Zone 5, we have been told that it is hardy here. Note that this is for a part shade area -- it likes more shade than sun or 4-6 hours of morning sun. It should be sited with protection from hot afternoon sun as well as strong winds. It can be left to create a cascade of foliage or staked. Any pruning should only be done in late fall to mid winter. 10 year size is approx. 3' tall. #3 size pot $ 54.95
Acer pseudo-sieboldiana Acer pseudo-sieboldiana (Korean Maple)
15'H, 10'W Part Shade to Sun Zone 4-7 This stunning small tree has dark green palmate leaves which provides brilliant fall colors in yellow, orange, and red. Buxus sinica var. insularis (Korean Boxwood)
24"H, 20" W Sun to Part Shade Zone 4 A dense, multi branched, evergreen shrub. The small attractive leaves are oval and deep glossy green. The growth is slow and limited to about 2" per year. Because you can shear boxwood, size can easily be controlled. Very fragrant insignificant greenish yellow flowers in spring. Caryopteris divaricata 'Snow Fairy' Caryopteris divaricata 'Snow Fairy'
30-36" tall Sun to Part Shade Zone 4-9 An extremely attractive shrub. If you have wished you could grow Caryopteris in our climate and enjoy the blue flowers, this is it -- zone 4 hardy. The most distinguishing characteristic of 'Snow Fairy' is its striking green and white variegated foliage which remain clean and fresh throughout the season. The leaves are scorch resistant and is also drought tolerant once established. Small lavender-blue flowers appear on terminal and auxiliary clusters from late summer into the early fall. It performs like a shrub but is actually a herbaceous perennial. It is a new introduction from Japan -- originally native to the Himalayas. Catalpa speciosa Catalpa speciosa (Catalpa Tree)
40-60' tall Sun to Partial Shade Zone 4-8 Fragrant Large bold leaves of a medium green to yellow green. The flowers are the real showstopper. White bell-shaped, orchid-like flowers to 2" long have purple and yellow inner spotting and very fragrant. Flowers in such abundance covering the lawn like snow when they finally drop. Mid June blooming. Long, thin fruit pods appear in late summer and often persist throughout winter. It's fun to press the large leaves and display them at Thanksgiving -- they develop beautiful olive tones. Gingko 'Mariken'
Varies Sun to Part Shade Zone 4 Mariken' is a recent introduction having been discovered as a witches broom in a Gingko biloba tree in the Netherlands in the mid 1990's. It is a dwarf gingko with the same distinctive and wonderful fan-shaped leaves as the Gingko tree. 'Mariken' has dark green leaves which turn bright yellow in the fall. 10 year size is about 2'. It will eventually reach 48-60" tall. #1 size pot $ 44.95

3-4' Tall Sun to Part Shade Zone 4-9 A delicate appearing shrub with bright green stems. The small light green leaves have a thin white margin Yellow flowers appear in late spring. We trim our Kerria to the ground every spring and it keeps the shrub at about 24-30" tall. The hard pruning also keeps it very compact. While we have this shrub growing in sun, it is just as suitable for a shadier position and it would be gorgeous in a woodland garden. Lespedeza thunbergii 'Pink Fountains' (Bush Clover)
3'H x 3'W Sun to Part Shade Zone 4 Waves of pink flowers beginn in mid to late summer and continue into the fall. Fine textured leaves. It is a semi-woody legume -- and fixates nitrogen in the soil raising the soils fertility and is drought tolerant as well. In our climate it is treated as a herbaceous perennial and should be cut to the ground during autumn cleanup or in early spring. It generally appears after most other plants have shown their heads.
