An extraordinary tree with large green leaves with deeply cut lobes creating a
fern like lush appearance. Small, reddish flowers in spring followed by prominent
red seeds in the fall. The 'Acontifolium' refers to its ferny foliage being
similar to Aconitum (monkshood). Common name 'Dancing Peacock' refers to the
similarity in form and many colors. Fall color ranging in reds, oranges, golds and
purples. Although rated at Zone 5, we have been told that it is hardy here. Note
that this is for a part shade area -- it likes more shade than sun or 4-6 hours of
morning sun. It should be sited with protection from hot afternoon sun as well as
strong winds. It can be left to create a cascade of foliage or staked. Any pruning
should only be done in late fall to mid winter. 10 year size is approx. 3' tall.

An extremely attractive shrub. If you have wished you could grow Caryopteris in our climate and enjoy the blue flowers, this is it -- zone 4 hardy. The most distinguishing characteristic of 'Snow Fairy' is its striking green and white variegated foliage which remain clean and fresh throughout the season. The leaves are scorch resistant and is also drought tolerant once established. Small lavender-blue flowers appear on terminal and auxiliary clusters from late summer into the early fall. It performs like a shrub but is actually a herbaceous perennial. It is a new introduction from Japan -- originally native to the Himalayas. Large bold leaves of a medium green to yellow green. The flowers are the real showstopper. White bell-shaped, orchid-like flowers to 2" long have purple and yellow inner spotting and very fragrant.
